Allan Leigh Cohoe, 76, was killed in a vehicle accident near Seaforth on May 13, 2020. Leigh was the eldest child of Fred and Ruth Cohoe of Burgessville, ON. He is survived by his two sons, Caleb (Samantha) of Denver, CO and Amos (Phoebe) of Kingston, ON, as well as four lovely grandchildren: Isaac, Davey, Una, and Beatrice. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Dan (Karen), Lynne and Liz (Mark), his nieces and nephews, and many cousins and their families. Leigh was a graduate of the University of Guelph and went on to complete an MBA at Michigan State University. After teaching at Ryerson University in Toronto, he returned to Burgessville in 1973 where he joined the sixth generation of Cohoes to farm the family land. In recent years, he passed on his role in running the farm to his niece Lindsay but continued to help with planting and harvest. He served on the Norwich and District Historical Society board and was active in many of its events, including dinners and trivia nights! Some will remember him as an instructor for the Ontario Pesticide Education Program or the Environmental Farm Plan. He was President of the Oxford branch of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association for several years and was recently awarded for his groundbreaking work in no-till practices. Leigh will be remembered for the care and time he gave in his role as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board overseeing the New Durham Cemetery. He was a devoted member of the Brant Community Church in Brantford. Leigh enjoyed travelling within Canada and abroad. He was always curious about the people and sights he saw and loved to plan his trips to include visits with friends and family in far-flung destinations. He loved riding his motorcycle and made many long-distance journeys across the US and Canada. He enjoyed meeting people and maintained many connections in the local and broader community. Arrangements entrusted to the ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020. The family will be having a private service. Interment will be at the New Durham Cemetery. Public services will be held at a later date, when the public health and safety restrictions have been lifted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwich and District Historical Society or the Brant Community Church.Online condolences may be made at www.arn-lockiefuneralhome.com
