ARMSTRONG, Beverly Jean (Nee Pollock)

August 11, 1937 - July 14, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly after a short hospital stay.

Bev leaves behind her most precious loved ones Randy, Scott, Leslie Armstrong-DeJongh (Tony DeJongh), and Pat Thomson (Cathy Pappas), and her much loved grandchildren Connor, Ellery and Eamon and Lindsay and Aaron DeJongh, sisters Barbara Meadows and Faith (Brian) Lee. Bev was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Barry (2015), sister Betty MacKay, sister in law Lynda Pollock, brother Keith Pollock, brother in law Walter Meadows. Second Mom to Allan Eising.

Bev was born in Parkhill, grew up in Embro and lived most of her life in Woodstock where she met and married Barry. Together they raised their children in the same family home for 53 years. Bev worked at Oxford Yarn, Travelaire Trailers and Kirsch Industries. She was handy in such a way that she could sew you a new outfit or build a bathroom vanity from scratch. She was a firecracker of a woman, feisty until the end, defying the medical staffer's words that she wouldn't awaken again, only to turn over and tell them "I remember you, and I don't like you". Not one to mince words, she was a staunch defender of the underdogs in life. Her home was always open and over the years many of her children's friends sought her practical advice on life's harder issues. She never forgot what it was like to be young and always understood how to provide the best guidance. She loved to laugh and had a salty sense of humour. She was incredibly social, loved having company, and even had a gigantic table custom built so that there was room for all. Her welcoming home was always the one that the kids hung out at, because she took them all under her wing. No matter who knocked, "Come on in" would be hollered and all who entered would be overfed and watered in her kitchen. Her commitment to her family was her core. She loved deeply and fiercely and was concerned for others even at the end. Her wisdom, counsel, and care will be missed. As is the case with children and their mothers, it is impossible to remember a time when she was not there for us, sharing our successes and failures, and that will make her absence even more deeply felt.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be collected and given to Cedar's Cause animal/ kitten rescue. Bev always had a soft spot for strays and people who needed a helping hand, so this is a fitting tribute to her Specific donation instructions are needed: please email DonationinstructionsBevA@gmail.com
