It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Philip Webb on Friday, August 28, 2020 in Saint John New Brunswick at the age of 80 years, Son of late William Webb and Dorothy Webb(Yeoman) of Woodstock and loving husband of Carrie Webb(Stone) and loving father of William, Luke and Robert Webb (Moncton NB, Rankin Inlet, and Ottawa). He also leaves behind a daughter, Catherine Widjedal (Lindsay ON) and son Christopher Webb (Peterborough ON) from his first marriage to Patricia Webb(Wilkinson) of Omeeme ON. He is deeply missed by his many grandchildren and by his brothers Paul (Sydney B.C), James (Ottawa, ON), and Dale (Hickson ON), and sisters Judith McHardy(Kitchener ON) and Evelyn Byers (Ingersol ON).

Philip was born and raised in Woodstock ON and attended Woodstock Collegiate Institute. After graduation he went on to study fine art and become a fellow of the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and later earned a BA from the University of Guelph. Philip was a very talented artist and art teacher and followed this profession for many years, teaching art in Barrie ON and later at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough. However he always had a love of sailing, archery and the sea. He followed his dreams and moved to Deer Island NB where he became a master craftsman in traditional "long bow" archery. He was an expert at selecting the best woods for long bows and shaping them into bows that were living works of art and sold to archery enthusiasts throughout the US and Canada. He is deeply missed by his family and his spirit lives on through family and friends and the Deer Island legacy. Due to current public health restrictions, the family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers or donations, please give a hug to someone you love.
