Bissell, Dwight Lyman (Died)

Passed away peacefully December 19, 2020 at the age of 95 at Secord Trails Care Community in Ingersoll. Predeceased by his loving wife Verna who passed away November 11, 2011. Proud father to Debbie Davies (Doug), Dennis (Marcia), Cindy Daoust (Ean), Charlie, Laurie Murray, Patti Landon (Al), John (Brenda) and David. Proud Grandpa to 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dwight was born on January 4, 1925 in Augusta Township to a Loyalist Family. As a young man he served in the RCAF where he trained in the Halifax Bomber. After returning to north Augusta to work on the family farm, he took a position at the Bank of Nova Scotia where he served at several branches across Ontario before arriving in Port Carling where he married Verna Harris and settled to raise their 8 children. He moved on from the bank to work at the Port Carling Boat Works, Clark & Brown Electric then going on his own in the electrical business. A new opportunity at Superior Propane took him to London, Ingersoll, Keswick and back to Muskoka in retirement. He eventually moved back to Ingersoll where he lived out his final days. Throughout his life Dwight was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he served on the Board of Directors at several branches in Ontario. A private family service is to be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to your local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
