de BEER, Elly (Krabben) 1954 - 2021

Surrounded by love of her children and husband, Elly DeBeer passed away on January 5, 2021 at the age of 66 at the Woodstock Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Ben DeBeer. Loving mom of Teun (Sylvia), Ben (Heidi) and Arjan (Gea). Cherished Oma of Jorja, Ty, Garcia, Ryan, Felicia, Cheyenne, Kevin, Dylan and Dustin. Elly is survived by her two brothers and three sisters in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Elly was born on May 31, 1954 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. She grew up in Oerle with her siblings whom she remained close with even after she emigrated. Elly was very caring and loved her work as a personal support worker. Elly and Ben married in 1975 and moved to Oostelbeers. After three years they moved to Casteren. There they started their farm, first pigs and later dairy. All three of their sons were born in Brabant, and Elly loved to help at their schools. In 1991 they decided to move the farm and the family to the other side of the country, and they settled in Roswinkel, Drenthe. Here, Elly was actively involved with the local chapter of the "plattelandsvrouwen" and the gymnastics club. Elly and Ben and their three sons moved to Ingersoll, Canada in 1999. Here they continued their dairy farm, when later in life, they added sheep, pigs, and veal. Elly loved to care for all animals and was great at doing so. She volunteered her time with the Oxford chapter of the CWL where she was treasurer for multiple years. Elly also genuinely enjoyed the Oxford WSA where she also was part of the executive for a number of years. Elly will be remembered for her love of gardening, farming and above all, her grand children who she loved deeply. She taught them how to care for the animals, how to weed the garden and how to harvest kale. Her vegetable garden grew bigger each year, to great delight of her daughters-in-law who were supplied with fresh vegetables throughout the summer. She taught us resilience, she never complained, even when her last days were getting tough. We will miss her loving smile and her love for life. A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Ingersoll Fr. Gilbert Simard presider. Memorial donations in Elly's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society through the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 519-425-1600. Personal condolences may be posted at www.mcbeathdynes.ca
