Of Aurora, Ontario passed away on September 10, 2021. Born in Woodstock, Ontario August 8, 1932 he is survived by his wife Cecilia (a.k.a. Sheila) Utting (Buchanan) and sons Timothy (Anna), Mark (Lynda) and Dean (Lorraine); stepchildren Kimberley Buchanan and Blake Buchanana (Erika). Also, by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Lavern (Veale) Utting; Sisters Lucy (a.k.a. Dee) Utting, Patricia (Len) Laine, along with Brothers RCAF Sgt. Victor Utting, RCN Lieut-Cmdr. Henry Utting and twin brother Robert Utting (Elaine).
Following his formal education at Albert College (Business Administration) in Belleville, Ontario he returned to his home town in Woodstock, Ontario where he followed his (four generations) forefathers as an active member of the Business, Community and Political sectors. He served as a member of Rotary Club, Children's Aid Society and was a founding member of Craigowan Country Club. He was also a multi-term Woodstock City Councillor. In post-retirement he served in community sociology (United Way and seniors social services) in Regina, Saskatchewan, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Toronto. As a twenty year licensed pilot and aficionado, aviation remained his lifelong passion.
A private memorial service will be held with family at the Anglican Cemetery in Woodstock, Ontario. If desired, any donations in Phillip's name can be made to a United Way regional office of your choice.
