Well Dad, you wanted the shortest obituary ever - a single word, as promised (above), and we hope you're enjoying it. So let's call this one a tribute instead (you knew we'd find a way around it!). We couldn't mark your 80 years with just a word.

Dad's passing on December 3rd as the result of lung cancer has left a hole in our hearts and our lives. He joins our mother, Diane (deceased January 2020), likely enjoying again her roast turkey and butter tarts. His quick, sly humour, generous spirit and wisdom are already much missed by daughters Kimberly Flood and Michelle Flood; son-in-law Kelly Barnett; grandchildren Sara Barnett, Andreas Kyriakos and Hanna Barnett; brother Bruce Flood (Dianne) and family; uncle and brother-in-spirit, Roy Zinn (Carol); sister-in-law Jean Ferguson (Stan) and family, and nieces, nephews and cousins in the Flood, Therrien and Cannon families. He is predeceased by parents Stanley and Rhea (Sally) Flood of Ingersoll, brother Donald and daughter Sherri Lynne.

Dad enjoyed daily chats on his 'patio' with passing friends, neighbours and canines, even after Mom wasn't alongside. His interests were varied over eight decades: destruction in the early years ("Butch"), phys ed, motorcycling, camping, fishing, hunting ("Swampfox"), boating, square dancing, curling, photography, country music, Optimists, cribbage, playing cards, theatre, aviation simulators, wild bird 'tenants' and every tool ever made. His professional experiences were also diverse: Farm hand, sea cadet, reservist, newspapers, commercial printing, advertising, by-law enforcement, bus driving. Homes were across Ontario including Ingersoll, Woodstock, Owen Sound, Paris, London, Lucan and Toronto.

Despite multiple health shocks these past two years, Dad felt fortunate thanks to the excellent care of Dr. Audra Duncan and her team; the staff of London Health Sciences Centre and Regional Cancer Program; the homecare team of South West LHIN, St. Elizabeth's and VON; Lucan Pharmacy, and the incredible professionals and volunteers of St. Joseph's Hospice who gave him the departure he wanted. Special thanks to the wonderful neighbours and friends who showed their love for Dad with their visits, food, emergency care, snow and grass removal.

Cremation has taken place and, COVID depending, a celebration of life will follow in spring 2022 for both our parents who would want to thank the Lucan community for the life they enjoyed there for 50 years. Dad would encourage donations to St. Joseph's Hospice, cancer research or the charity of your choice.

Haskett Funeral Home, LUCAN entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be forwarded through www.haskettfh.com.
