WITTEVEEN, Geert

"Gerry"

Visitation and service has been postponed.

Passed away at the Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll on Monday December 27, 2021, in his 88th year. Beloved husband to Janna C. (nee Spriel) Witteveen for over 62 years. Loving father of Bert (Maribeth) Witteveen, Josie (Ron Gulka) Witteveen and the late Jacqueline Witteveen (1981). Cherished Opa to Jacqueline (Matt) Hunt, Jeremy (Lauren) Witteveen, Janna (Tyler) Purdy, Jon (Eliesha) Witteveen, Rayne (Kylie) Hettinga, late Darien Hettinga (2020) and will always be remembered by his many great grandchildren. Dear brother of Theadora (John) DeBoer and is survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by his sister Hennie (Jos) Vanderlaan. Gerry was born in Zwolle, Netherlands in 1934 and then immigrated to Canada in 1951. Gerry married Janna in 1959 and together they farmed in the Thamesford area for over 70 years. He was a member of the Oxford County Pork Producers for over 29 years. Gerry and Janna have been long time active members of Emmanuel Reformed Church, serving in many capacities within the church. Due to Covid-19 concerns a Memorial Service will be held for Geert at a later date. A private interment in the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery will have taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Alexandra Hospital Foundation in Ingersoll or the Salvation Army Food Bank and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock (519-539-0004) .
