November 1, 1933 - February 5, 2022

Ernest Marvin Moulton, known to most of us as Ernie, Skipper or Pa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday 5 February 2022, at age 88 after a long battle with COPD.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Deanna, and his 3 sons Michael (Kate), Rusty (Jan), and Andrew (Angela). Ernie will be missed by his loving grandchildren Tabitha Martorana (Ian), Deven (Erin), Darryl (Amy), Dan (Keri), Jordan, and Deliah, and great grandchildren Austin and Deegan.

Ernie was born on 1 November 1933 in Toronto, Ontario to Vera and Ernie Moulton. At age 16, Ernie left the nest in search of adventure, heading west in his 1932 Chevy that he bought from his uncle Gar. Running out of gas and with only $1.95 in his pocket, he was persuaded to join the Army, where he served in Korea and was part of the United Nations Peace Keeping Force. He was in his element driving Sherman tanks, learning to fly helicopters and having the opportunity to travel around the world "twice"!

Ernie certainly had a way with words and a deep desire to live life his way. This certainly fuelled the success of the two businesses he formed and ran for several years - Marine Specialists and Ontario Hobby and Craft.

Ernie dedicated a great deal of time to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) Woodstock as Commanding Officer making several good friends along the way. Ernie was also founder of the Woodstock Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) Unicorn for youths aged 9 to 12, for which the city of Woodstock presented him with an Award of Distinction. Many young lives were positively affected through his caring leadership.

In his retirement years Ernie and Deanna enjoyed touring North America in their 5th wheel for many years. He also loved spending time in his wood shop, painting original pictures, and most important of all, enjoying Happy Hour with his life-long friends at Woodstock Braemar Valley Park and 4 Seasons Park in Brownsville Texas as well as with his sailing buddies at Bluebill Marina.

Ernie's last wish is that you are not sad for him, but that you celebrate his life which was filled with adventure, intrigue, loving family and friends. Ernie, Skipper, Pa was a positive influence on us all, and we will never forget him. Rest now Pa, rest!

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. We wish to thank Dr. Karen Fryer for her unselfish and dedicated care and to the wonderful Sakura House staff for treating Ernie like family during his short stay. Also, grateful thanks to our new family friend and physical therapist Jenny Dempsey and the nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth Health Care who were always on call when needed. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to raise a glass to Skipper and/or make a donation to Sakura House (http://vonsakurahouse.com) or to a charity of your choice.
