In his 82nd year, passed away at his residence, on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was born on a farm in Plattsville on February 3, 1941. Harold was the oldest surviving son of the late Arthur Ziegler (Sr.) (2008) and Pearl Ziegler (née Becker) (1989). He was the beloved partner and best friend of Joanne Anderson. Loving father to Cheryl and Ron (Cissy). Much-loved brother to Dorothy (Albert), Art Jr. (Chris), Arlene (Robin), Paul (Lynda), Sharon (Bob), Helen (Keith), Delton (Jayne), Marilyn (Vernon), Rae, and Floyd (Debi). Predeceased by sisters Ruth and Esther in infancy, and brothers Bruce (1998), and Roy (2006). He is also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Robbie (Victoria), Randy (Melissa), Brandon (Crystal), Ronnie, Ryan, Riley, Ricky, and great-grandchildren Madisyn, Colton, Bentley, and Baby Butt coming in November...and by many nieces and nephews. Harold was one of a kind. As he said, he marched to the beat of his own drum. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which he had from about 1960 to 1963. He was an extremely hard worker and worked at LaFrance Textiles, Silverwoods, and Burns. He then bought the farm, worked at The Canning Plant, Purina, Neilsons, and Oxford Regional Centre while operating the farm. He loved fishing and camping, playing horseshoes, singing and playing music with his guitar, fiddle, and mouth organ, and loved going to dances. His big dream was to have a farm, which he purchased in 1972 at age 31. He enjoyed entertaining and barbecuing for people, made great steaks, and also loved his desserts. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and getting to see his great-grandchildren. His passing leaves a very large hole in our lives, and words cannot express how much he will be missed. Harold's family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 12:00--12:45 p.m., where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Chesterfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2300 Yonge St., Suite 1200, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4.
