KROPF, Sherman

Sherman Wray Kropf, 74, of Hickson, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, of A.L.L. (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) at Sakura House Hospice, Woodstock on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

He was born on the 12th Concession of Blandford Township, Oxford County on February 27, 1948 a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Roth) Kropf.

Sherman was a 42-year (1969-2011) member of the Hickson Fire Department where he served as Captain (1975-1980), as Deputy Fire Chief (1981-1983), as Fire Chief (1983-2011). He had also served as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock from March 1998 until his retirement on November 30, 2011.

He had worked with S.T. Loveys Limited in Hickson for 47 years. In his younger years he had coached ball in Hickson and hockey in Tavistock. He was a member of Grace United Church, Tavistock and the former Hickson United Church.

Sherman is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Elaine Fullick, whom he married at Hickson on April 26, 1969; his daughter, Tricia Johnson (David); his son, Brad Kropf; three grandchildren, Zach Johnson (Jess), Cara Johnson (Frank Meconi), Michael Johnson (Josie Lamondin); two great-grandchildren, Everett Johnson and Olivia Meconi; two brothers, Oliver Kropf (Shirley), Howard Kropf (Helen); brothers-in-law, Paul Fullick and John Fullick (Jane); several nieces, nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jim Burford and by three (triplet) brothers, in infancy; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Elsie Fullick.

Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Grace United Church, Tavistock on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Mary Boland will officiate. Reception following.
