Deeks, William George (Died)

Passed away on November 18, 2023 at the age of 93.

Bill was predeceased by his children, Charlene Norris, Jo-Anne Weber, Stephen Deeks.

He leaves behind the family he loved very much, his wife Doris Deeks, the love of his life for 75 years and his daughter Susan Fisher (and her husband Martin Fisher). Proud grandfather of Taylor Duncan, Alexandria Cavanagh (Stephen), Victoria Palazzo (David), Ella Fisher and Stephen Deeks Jr. and great-grandfather of Aryanna, Atlas, Emery and True.

Dad began his career at IBM in Toronto before joining the University of Toronto's purchasing department in 1960. He later joined the University of Waterloo where he pioneered and received recognition for establishing innovative purchasing and tax relief strategies, concepts that he shared with, and were adopted by many other Canadian universities. Dad's career at the University of Waterloo progressed, and he rose to the level of Director of Administrative Services.

Retiring to Innerkip, Dad joined St. John's Anglican Church and the Oak Branch Masonic Lodge #261. He often spoke fondly to his family of his deep and meaningful friendships with members of both. Dad was interested in people, all people. He loved a chat, and always left them with a smile on their face, a little happier for their interaction with him.

As his family grew, Dad increasingly appreciated the value of having a loving family around him; a family devoted to each other's growth and well being, inspired by their "Pa".

Throughout his life, Doris was his rock. He would often refer to her as "my bride" proud of the woman he had loved for over 75 years. His deep devotion to her was evident to the very end.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of his life service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2723 Victoria St. N in Breslau on Saturday, November 25, 2023 starting at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated.
