Willempje "Wilma" Donker, a cherished soul known for her unwavering strength and loving heart, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, at Sakura House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Wilma's life was a testament to love and commitment, beautifully illustrated by her 56-year marriage to her beloved husband, Andy. Together, they built a life filled with joy and purpose. Wilma's legacy continues through her children, Wendy Knoop (Peter), Leo Donker (José), Tim Donker (Nicole), and Richard Donker (Robynn), who will forever cherish the lessons of kindness and resilience she instilled in them. Her grandchildren, Jessica (Ron), Travis (Maggie), Tristan, Alec (Lauren), Mick, Daniel (Alyssa), Colin, Carly, Logan, Bella, Sam, Jack, Edward, and Andrew, and great-grandchildren, Ellouise, Michael, Rhett, and Kane, were the light of her life, and she reveled in their accomplishments and adventures.
Wilma's siblings, Walter, Hank (Monique), and John (Kathy), held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her sister Janet, her brother-in-laws John and Allan, and sister-in-law Sandra, all of whom she remembered with deep affection and love. Professionally, Wilma was a dedicated worker at Tillsonburg Hospital until August 1968 when she married Andy and became a steadfast partner in their dairy farm operation. Wilma's interests and activities reflected her love for life and her commitment to her community. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church Ladies' Group. Her love for reading provided her with endless hours of enjoyment. Wilma and Andy cherished their winter home in Florida, where they basked in the sun and warmth that she adored.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock, and again on Saturday May 18 from 10-11 a.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church, 170 Clarke St. N, Woodstock, where the Funeral Service will take place at 11 a.m. with live streaming on You Tube channel "Emmanuel Reformed Church Woodstock" with reception to follow. Interment at North Embro Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sakura House, to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the MS Society.
