Passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock on Wednesday July 17, 2024 at the age of 84, hand in hand with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Jack Vann (September 2023) for 64 years. Loving mother of Michael (Mary), Susan Grant (David) and Peter (Lorraine). Cherished Grammy of Victoria (Nick), Alison (Jake), Jennifer (Ryan), Charlotte and William. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Irene Groom, her sisters Patricia Thorpe (Walt) and Eva Groom. Fondly remembered by her niece, nephews and extended family, friends. Born and raised in Ingersoll, she would meet her lifelong partner Jack, and spend the next 70 years by his side until his death just ten months ago. We are grateful that Mom was able to join Dad at Woodingford during their final years. She and Jack shared their love of the outdoors, camping and travel with their family and friends on many shared trips. With Jack she travelled all over Canada and the eastern US in their Roadtrek. In her younger life she was a Girl Guide, receiving the Gold Cord, presented by Lady Baden Powell, the highest of honours and was a Guide Leader. She played badminton and tennis at different times in her life and took up golf and played often with Jack when she retired after a career in nursing. She took her training as a Registered Nurse at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and spent the next 35 years at Alexandra Hospital finishing her career as a charge nurse on the medical/surgical floor. Mom was a fierce protector of her family, loving and supportive and she will be missed immensely. Our hearts break with the loss of our devoted mother, but we gain strength with the knowledge that she is once again with Dad. Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames St. South, Ingersoll. Inurnment to take place at Harris St. Cemetery, together with Jack. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. A special thank you to the staff of Pinecrest, Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock for Mom's care these past two years. Donations to Mom's memory may be sent to Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock. Personal condolences may be posted at www.mcbeathdynes.ca.
