It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, loving husband, and cherished Grandpa. John (Jack) Gilmar went home to be with his Lord and Saviour with family at his side at Sakura House Woodstock on October 23, 2024 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Patricia (Pat) for 67 years. Loving father of Keith (Sheena), Glenn (Michele), Jo Ann Brooks (Norman Smallboy) and Betty Attoe (Phil). Dear brother of George (Gina), brother-in-law Mike Goodall (Leisa), and predeceased by brother Bob (1999) (Carolyn)(2022). Predeceased by parents Lloyd (2012) and Josephine (Lattimer) (2006). Remembered by grandchildren Cody (Laura), Dillon (Emma Strack), Luke (1994), Shaelyn, Jesse, Katee Klingenberg (Calvin), Benjamin (Danielle), Jason Brooks, and Jordan Brooks (Jenna DeAbreu); Great-grandchildren Myer Klingenberg and Miriam Gilmar. Jack grew up on the 13th Line farm and married Pat in 1957. He started picking up milk cans for the Hickson dairy and then hauled feed and grain for Innerkip and Hickson mills. The business expanded to many other feed mills and dark blue Gilmar Transit trucks were recognized all over Southwestern Ontario. He was a longtime member and deacon at South Zorra Baptist Church and most recently attended Truth Community Church in Thamesford. Always enjoying baseball, he was an avid player in the church lob-ball and Southside Slowpitch League. His Blue Jays hat was a fixture on his head while watching Toronto play. Special Thanks to the staff at Woodstock Hospital and Sakura House for their excellent care during the past four months. Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Tuesday October 29, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday October 30, 2024 at 11 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow the service. Interment at Innerkip Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Sakura House or charity of your choice and they may be arranged online at www.brockandvisser.com
