Peacefully, after a brief illness, with family at her side, on Friday, December 6, 2024, at VON-Sakura House, Woodstock, ON, Mary Louise Orth (Nee Alderson). Predeceased by her husband H. Grant Orth (2020). Loving mother of Karen McCann (Tony), Connie Greenshields (Jamie) and Steven Orth (Lisa). Sadly, missed by her grandchildren Michelle Watkins, Matthew and Liana Greenshields, Diana and Jacob Orth. Survived by her sister Dorothy Leitch, and will be missed by many nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Russell and Sarah Alderson and brother Eldon Alderson. Mary's passion was health care and helping people. She trained to be a Registered Nurse, right out of high school and started at the Woodstock Hospital. She took time off nursing to raise her three kids on a farm with Grant. Mary loved the peaceful country life, having grown up on a dairy farm as a child herself. In the winter Mary could be found snowmobiling and towing a caboose with her three kids bundled up inside, enjoying a ride. Mary kept active curling during this time also and even traveled to Scotland to compete in a bonspiel with her team. Once Mary's kids were teenagers she returned to nursing in a clinic for several years. Mary never stopped wanting to help people. As per Mary's request, cremation will take place, with a family graveside service in the Spring of 2025 at the New Durham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020.
