TRAVERS, Violet (Vi) Alice - Peacefully, on Sunday, October 29th 2006, with family present, in her 99th year at the Winston Park, Nursing Home, Kitchener. Vi was born July 2nd, 1908 at Lot 17, Concession 3, East Oxford. She was employed from the age of 16 until her retirement in 1973, with the Canadian National Telegraph, serving in Woodstock, Windsor, Hamilton, Toronto and lastly in London. She resided at 857 James St., Woodstock from 1982 until moving to Kitchener in 2005. Vi was a member of Christ Church (Anglican), Oxford Centre, and for many years since retirement was a volunteer at the gift shop of Woodstock General Hospital. In recent years she attended Learning Unlimited and Seniors on the Move. She was the loving aunt of June Parking and Wilma Ewald who survive her. She will be fondly remembered by 18 great nieces and nephews (and their mates). These are the children of June and Aubrey Parking of Woodstock, Nita and Ron Hogg of Thamesford, Eve and Howard Greenly of London, Joyce and Donald Stewart of Thamesford, and Wilma and Dennis Ewald of Kitchener. She is also survived by 39 great great nieces and nephews (and 7 mates) and 11 great, great, great nieces and nephews. She was a special friend to Dorothy Greenly. Predeceased by her parents, Alice (Perrett )Travers (1959), Bernard Travers (1960), only sister Bernice Greenly (1981), and brother-in-law Ernest Greenly (1985). Also predeceased by nieces Joyce Stewart (1984), Nita Hogg (1998), nephew Howard Greenly (2002), and nephew-in-law Aubrey Parking (2002), as well as an infant great, great niece Madelyn Ewald Whyte (2003). Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 31st, from 6-9 p.m. at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004). The funeral Service will take place at Christ Church Anglican Oxford Centre on Wednesday, November 1st, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Committal will follow immediately in the Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Oxford Centre. Charitable donations may be made to Christ Church Anglican, Oxford Centre. Hers was a life of quiet dignity, with interest and joy in sharing in the lives of those around her.
