FLETCHER, Helen - At Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario on Saturday, January 27, 2007, Helen Rose in her 72nd year of Port Franks. Mother of Cheryl (Wayne Anderson) and grandmother of Christopher and Derek. Sister of Chris (Sheila) of Union and predeceased by brother and sister George and Joan. Survived by sister-in-law Betty of Kitchener and brother-in-law Art of Embro. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Helen was born in Woodstock, Ontario to Christian and Erma Fletcher on December 23, 1935, where she lived until moving to London. Helen worked at Victoria Hospital Emergency for many years and found many friends who have been with us throughout her lengthy battle with cancer. I would like to thank all of them for the care they gave mom on our numerous visits to emergency during the past year. After retiring from the hospital Helen lived in Port Franks where she met many friends at the Port Franks Senior Centre and the Grand Bend Legion, where she enjoyed card nights and social events. Many of her friends from their have been a great support over the last year, especially Sonya and Labelle who helped to keep Mom in good spirits and up on the news when they visited. Special thanks for the care and kindness shown by the CCAC nurses during their home visits over the past year which made mom more comfortable. Thank you Tinna, Anne, Marilyn and Annette, your efforts will not be forgotten. Many thanks to the nurses at the Palliative Care Unit who made moms last few days comfortable and helped me cope through this difficult time. It takes a special kind of person to excel at such a difficult job and I am thankful you were there for me. In memory of Helen please consider donating to the London Health Sciences Foundation-Cancer Centre or the Port Franks Senior Centre. As per Helen's wishes cremation will take place and there will be no memorial service.
