ROLFE - With sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Florence Carol Rolfe (nee Phelps) at the age of 88 years, at Caressant Care, Woodstock on Friday, April 6, 2007. Beloved wife for 63 years of the late James Stuart Rolfe (2006). Dear mother of Rob (Patti Waterfield), Nancy, and Ann Marie (Roger Lunn). Loving grandmother of Jonathan, Tony, Peter, Danielle and Sophie, and great grandmother of Jonah and Zachary. Also survived by her sister Ann Watt (Cameron) of Lambeth. Predeceased by her parents Frederick Noah Phelps and Florence Cecilia Smith. Carol was a noted conservationist, nature photographer and lecturer. She was instrumental in preserving the Trillium Woods in Sweaburg and the Walker Woods in Sauble Beach. Over the years she was involved in the Woodstock Naturalist Society and the Federation of Ontario Naturalists. She was active in the Canadian Save the Children Fund in Woodstock, a long-term member of the Woodstock and Tillsonburg bridge clubs, and active in the Woodstock Reading Club until recently. She was also actively involved in the arts community and an advocate for the work of her grandfather, W. St. Thomas Smith. Friends will be received at Carol and Stu's home in Woodstock on Thursday, April 12, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Oxford or the Nature Conservancy of Canada would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, Woodstock, (519) 537-3611.
