PATTERSON - Salvation Army Major Margaret Brown Patterson of Woodstock and formerly of Tillsonburg, was Promoted To Glory” on Monday, July 16, 2007, peacefully, from the Woodstock General Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Margaret along with her husband of 47 years Major David Patterson lived her life (over the past 48 years) in service and complete commitment to Christ and helping people from all walks of life through various congregations of the Salvation Army Community Church. Margaret sometimes preached but also offered music Ministry (solos, organist, pianist) and community service and pastoral counselling. Margaret was born in Patna, Ayreshire, Scotland, Sept, 15 1923 to her late parents William Clark (Troon, Scotland) and Margaret Brown (Troon, Scotland). Much loved wife, pastoral partner and best friend (of 47 years) of Major David Patterson. Proud and loving mother of Andrew Patterson and his wife Anne of Toronto; Jonathan Patterson of Toronto; Ruth Ribble of Hamilton and Timothy Patterson of Huntsville, and eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Survived by a sister, Doreen (Scotland) and two brothers, Raymond Clark (Northern Ireland) and John Clark (England). Predeceased by two brothers Alec Clark, William Clark; and three sisters, Nellie, Mary and Irina. Friends and relatives are welcome to meet with the family for visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOME, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238). Funeral service to celebrate the life of Margaret Brown Patterson will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Community Church, 769 Julianna Drive, Woodstock by Major Ralph Hewlett and his wife Major Ann Hewlett of Cambridge. Interment to follow in the Woodstock Baptist Cemetery. Memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the “Salvation Army Community Church, Woodstock” or the “Alzheimers Society” would be appreciated by the Patterson family and can be arranged through the Verhoeve Funeral Home, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238).
