Shore, Robert Hardy “Bob” of Port Stanley, on Monday, July 23, 2007, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, after ailing health, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Shirley Anne Shore and dearly loved father of Valerie Cron (Bill), Hardy Shore and William Shore (Jill) and the late John Shore (July 1982). Dear brother of Catherine McDonald, Murton Shore and the late James Shore (May 2005). Loved grandfather of Nicole Cron (Kenny), Kevin Cron, Krystle Shore, John Shore, Natalie Shore, Steven Shore and Michael Shore. Sadly missed by 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Flint Michigan on October 7, 1932, the son of the late Hardy and Veda (Jenkens) Shore. Bob was President of the Elgin County Holstein Club in it's 60th year, was a founding member of the Canadian Livestock Exporters Assoc. and twice president, he was Past President of the Junior Farmers in his 20's. He was inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame in November 1996. Bob was founder and President of Shore Holsteins International Ltd. from 1970-1999. He was an adherent of Christ Church, Glanworth, a member of the Newfoundland Trail Riders since 1985, member of the American Quarter Horse Assoc. and Standard Bred Association of Canada, member of Holstein Canada, judged dairy cattle on 5 continents, member of the Middlesex Intercounty Judging team who placed 2nd at the Royal Winter Fair 1952, out of 35 teams. Bob auctioned for 58 years in most states of the U.S.A. and provinces in Canada. He donated and auctioned to raise money for Easter Seals, Rick Hansen's Wheel in Motion marathon, victims of the Lockerby disaster in Scotland. He also raised money for Ducks Unlimited, the St. Thomas Art Gallery, the Elgin Theatre Guild, and many other organizations. He supported the Glanworth Optimist Club and Independent Order of Oddfellows. He opened his facilities to students when Agriculture was introduced in the classroom and more than 1000 children and teachers toured and learned of the dairy industry. Shore Holsteins Limited received a plaque as a life member of the Canadian Hunger Foundation for their generous support. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Friday afternoon and then to First United Church (corner of St. George and Curtis Streets) where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Glanworth. Visitation Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to Christ Church, Glanworth or to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation.
