ASPDEN, Gordon Nelson peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 18, 2007 with his family by his side after a short courageous battle with cancer. Best friend and loving husband of Doreen (Batsford) for 60 years. Dear father of Sharon Ficht (John) of Woodstock, Beth English, Lynne Phillips both of London, Gary (Brenda) of Harrietsville, Bryan (Jane), Mary Lou Aspden and Janeen Cooper (Todd) all of Woodstock. Beloved Papa of sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Dear brother of Jim Aspden (Clara) of Woodstock, Madeline Ross of Bright, Colbourne Collins of St. Catharines, Hazel Oakley of Tillsonburg and brother-in-law of George Oakley. Predeceased by his infant daughter Nancy Ruth, son Murray, son-in-law Sid English, grandson Christopher English, sisters Helen Selfors, Vera Lauder, Doris Oakley and brothers Walter and Harvey Aspden. Gordon was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge No. 261, Oak Branch Innerkip, a Warden of Oxford County in 1969 and prior was Reeve of Blandford Township. Friends may call at the LONGWORTH FUNERAL HOME, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Heather Bedford officiating.
