HARRON – At Woodstock General Hospital on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, Mervyn Herron of Woodstock in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Turner) for 61 years. Dear father of Terry Harron and his wife Carole of Cochrane, Alberta. Loving grandfather of Robert of Princeton, New Jersey and Eric of Calgary. Dear brother of Margaret Smith (LeVerne) of Woodstock and brother-in-law of Marie Harron of Woodstock. Predeceased by his brother George. Mervyn was an accomplished athlete excelling particularly in track. He was the All-Ontario junior champion in the 100 yard dash in 1938, and is a member of the Woodstock Sports Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the RCAF in England. Mervyn retired from the Royal Bank of Canada after over 40 years of service. He was an active member of South Gate Centre and a long-time member of College Avenue Church. Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
