Piper - At Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 26, 2008 Russell (Rusty) Piper, of R.R.#1, Otterville, in his 78th year. Son of the late William and Frances Piper. Beloved husband of Edith Piper. Dear father of Clifford and friend Nancy of Otterville. Dear grandfather of Andrew, Matthew, Martin, Ashlea and Brandon. Dear brother of Frances and her husband Lewis Peterson of Drumbo. Father-in-law of Cathy Piper and Stephanie Piper. Predeceased by his son Richard (2003).
Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames St. S., Ingersoll Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. where service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Fred Carson officiating. Cremation to follow. Masonic Lodge Memorial Service Tuesday at 6:45 P.M. auspices of King Hiram Lodge #37, Ingersoll A.F. & A.M. Memorial donations to the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, King Hiram Masonic Lodge or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
In October 1981, Russ became an O.F.A.H. Zone 6 Alternate Director and thus began a long volunteer with the organization. Russ served many positions up until that time, and in February 1998, Russ became President of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. From February 2004 to the present time, Russ has been serving as a Provincial Director-at-Large, elected by the membership. Russ has served on many committees of the organization, including chairing such committees as Landowner Relations, Fisheries, Resolutions, Water Resources, and has served as a member of many advisory committees, other than those he chaired. Russ served as a O.F.A.H. representative on the Erie Program Committee, and was nominated by the Lake Erie Management Unit for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission's 2008 award for fostering partnerships in the Great Lakes. Russ was also a member of the Oxford Fish & Game Protection Association, Backus Heritage Display, Southern Ontario Drainage Tribunal, was liaison with the Oxford Stewardship Council and he also spearheaded Sally's Creek Rehabilitation Project.
