Streef, Martin (Died)

STREEF, Martin - President of Streef Produce Ltd., after a lengthy and very courageous battle with adrenal cancer. Martin succumbed peacefully at the London Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday April 30, 2008. Martin is survived by his loving wife Olivia (Preca) Streef, proud father of Christopher (Erin) of Hamilton, Benjamin and Desiree at home. Dearly loved son of Jan and Johanna Streef of Oxford Centre. Cherished brother of Peter (Ana) of Mississauga, John (Lena) of Princeton, Albert of Campbellville, Jack (Janna) of Oxford Centre and brother-in-law of Karen Soles Streef (John) of Paris. Also survived by Olivia’s mother Stella Preca of Brantford, by her sisters Marcelle (Sebastian) Elull of Brantford, Louise Stafford of Woodstock and by her brother Angelo Preca of Brantford. Sadly missed but fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews , aunts and uncles. Predeceased by his sister-in-law Cory Streef and father-in-law Joseph Preca. Martin was the recipient of the prestigious “Outstanding Young Farmer Award” for Ontario in 1996. Followed later that year with the “Outstanding Young Farmer Award” for all of Canada. He is the past president of the Brant OFA and had remained an active director, for many years he has been a director for the Fresh Vegetable Growers of Ontario. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday May 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church 181 King Street Burford on Monday May 5, 2008 at 11:00 am with Father Frank Manno as celebrant. Interment in Princeton Cemetery.
