Tam - Wai Chun, 77, of Scarborough passed away peacefully at Toronto General Hospital, Friday morning October 31st, 2008, in the arms of her loving husband and family. Beloved wife of Wing Chap for over 57 years. Dear mother of Tommy (Connie) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Jimmy (Florence) of Richmond Hill, Mimi (Ken) of Richmond BC, Timmy (Grace) of Oshawa, Lilly (Todd) of Whitby and Jonny (Michele) of Woodstock. Grandmother of Francis (Amy), Janette, Emily, Ronny, Laming, Hailey, Kenneth, Alan, Nicholas, Nathan, Rachel, Andrew and Michael. Wai Chun is also preceded by her brother, Ysi Wing and survived by brother Tom, Hong Kong. Wai Chun was born in Hong Kong on December 17th, 1931. Wai Chun was strong willed and survived being held in a Japanese concentration camp during the 1940’s. Instead of going to school she worked through her teenage years. She met her husband and got married on May 29th, 1954. After having 6 children Wai Chun and her family moved from their home in Hong Kong to start a new life in Newfoundland in March of 1974. Wai Chun ran a family restaurant for over 20 years before retiring to Scarborough in 1994. A private funeral service was held for the family on Monday, November 3rd at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Shepherd Avenue East, Agincourt, Ontario.
