DOES - Peacefully, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease, at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock on Thursday, December 25, 2008, Mary Does (nee Vandermeer) of Woodstock in her 81st year. Beloved wife and best friend of Peter for over 50 years. Loving mother of Joanne Does (David Rawson) of Shedden, Mary-Lou Robb (Dave) of Bancroft, Margaret Beard (Dave) of Mississauga, Brian Does (Denise) of Ingersoll, and the late infant Michael (1964). Devoted grandmother of Wes, Alyssa, Michael, Nicole, Charlie, Jackson, Patrick, Connor, and Caelan. Dear sister of Steve Vandermeer of Strathroy, Clara Kramer of Bow Island, AB, Sjaak of Spain, and Co, Bou, Kees, Corrie, Trees, and Ton, all of Holland. Sister-in-law of Cathy, Ann, Jim, Tom, Mary, Alice, Peter, Gerard, Margo, and the late Jan, John, and Carl. Born in Holland, Mary followed her sweetheart to Canada in 1958 where they married soon thereafter. Mary spent many happy years raising her children on the farm near Hickson. After moving to Woodstock in 1974 she joined her husband in the real estate business. A deeply committed Christian, Mary could always be counted on to help others in need, including being a foster parent, involvement in the Catholic Women's League and the Right to Life. Her happy, positive attitude was an inspiration to all, and she will remain forever in our hearts. A special thank you to the Alzheimer Society of Oxford and the staff at Woodingford Lodge for looking after Mary so patiently and lovingly. Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Monday, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at the funeral home on Monday evening at 8:45 p.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 904 Dundas Street, Woodstock on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment later at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
