SPLAN - Surrounded by his loving family at the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, February 21, 2009. John “Jack” G. Splan of Woodstock in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Isabelle Splan (nee Jamieson) for over 66 years. Cherished father of Stewart of Windsor, Doug and his wife Lynda of Goderich and Janet Jacobs and her husband Kevin of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Sean, Jason, John, and Greg Splan, Kyle Jacobs and great grandfather of four. Also survived by his brother Bill Splan (Evelyn) of Kincardine and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Hilda Harrison and Jean Ritchie. Jack was a veteran of WW II serving with the R.C.R. from 1941-1946. He was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #55, Woodstock. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 7-9 p.m., where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jane vanPatter officiating. Cremation to follow with interment later in the Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
