WAGNER - Alfred “John” Lewis Wagner - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Madoc on Monday, September 21, 2009. John was the son of the late Alfred Wagner and Gladys Clark. He was born in St. Thomas on November 26, 1929. John was the husband of Marg (McCoy), father of, Wayne (Lori) Wagner, Wendy (Mike) Sniderhan and Gale (Peter) Brown, grandfather of, Ian, Sarah, Zach, Ana, Katy and Jon, great grandfather of, Lance and Alexus, and “Pa” to Vaughn (Cathy) Lloyd, Lauren (Kim) Forgie, Sean (Bev) Lloyd and their children. He was also considered a very special cousin to Prue McIntosh who holds a special place within the family. John had three brothers, Bill (Vonda), Doug and Lorne of Woodstock and was predeceased by two sisters, Edna and Bonnie. The family is greatly indebted to Dr Janet Yorston, Mary Lou McInroy, John’s care manager at the Access Centre, Sandy “Dusty” Hewitt his devoted P.S.W., Doris Bush and the amazing Hospice volunteers. There is no way our family could have cared for John as we did without their help. Because of these very special people and their caring ways the family was able to grant John’s final wish - to be able to stay at home with his family. A special thank you also to Rev. Wendy Lampman for having held a communion service with John and his family at his home. A “Celebration of his Life” service was held at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Madoc, on Saturday, September 26 with the Reverend Wendy Lampman officiating, assisted by the Reverend George Beals. Cremation with a private family interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Madoc took place prior to the service. Donations in John’s memory were requested to the Heart of Hastings Hospice, or St Peter’s Presbyterian Church.
