McCall - Ellen Doris McCall of Brussels, formerly of Embro, passed away peacefully at Huronlea Home for the Aged on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the age of 86. Born near Bennington, Ontario, she was the only daughter of J. Roy and Alberta (Hummason) Ross. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce McCall in 1998, brother Lloyd Ross and son-in-law Jim Fraser. Cherished mother of Sharon Fraser and friend Thomas Matheson of St Marys, Bonnie and her husband Barry Hicks of St Albert, Alberta, Robert and Bonnie (McInnis) McCall of Sarnia, and Ross and Frances (Blake) McCall of Brussels. Dearly loved grandmother of Debra (Dave) Brown, Sherri (Luigi) Fiorino, Lori (Tyler) Williams, Melanie Fraser, Lucas McCall, Leisa (Peter) Albers, Matthew McCall and friend, Julie Brown, Lacey McCall and friend, Jeff Berlett. Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. The family received friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels. The funeral service was held at Brussels United Church on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 1 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship, then to North Embro Cemetery, Embro, for a graveside service and committal at 4:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Huronlea Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. She was a wife, a mother, a friend, a guide, and always an individual and inspiration … she will be greatly missed. “She lived and brought on to this earth, a bit of beauty, love and faith, and now her life will ever be reflected in our hearts” (Gwen Frostic).
