Foreword:
"On behalf of the residents of the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, I wish to welcome you to this our community, The First Capital of Upper Canada.
Niagara-on-the-Lake has commerce, industry and tourism, coupled with a historical, cultural and rural setting, an aspect which provides something for everyone.
In 1981, the Town will be celebrating its Bicentennial 1781-1981. Year round activities are being planned now for this major event.
The motto of the Town is "Fruitful in Unity" and alludes to Niagara-on-the-Lake's steady progress, largely attributed to its basic fruit industry and the community spirit, zeal and cooperation of its citizens.
W. N. Dick, Lord Mayor,
Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake"
