- Laura Ingersoll Secord moved from Queenston to Chippawa in 1835 when her husband James became a customs collector at the port of Chippawa (the position came with a home).
After her husband's death (James Secord died of a stroke on 22 February 1841), Laura Secord bought a cottage on Water Street from James Cummings in November 1841, where she lived with her daughters for the rest of her life.
Water Street has since been renamed Bridgewater Street and actual address is: 3800 Bridgewater Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario. - Inscriptions
