Notes
Article "Dutch group seeks family of Virgil soldier who was killed during Second World War" by Erica Bayer (published by the St. Catharines Standard on December 5, 2011) gives more details on Jack Hutchison's death:
"Jack Leon Hutchison's plane was shot down over Holland 69 years ago, during a nighttime bombing mission in the Second World War. The Virgil native was killed, along with four other crew members. He was 25 years old.
"The target of that night when Jack was killed was a town called Bremen in Germany," Drijver said. "They were intercepted by a German night fighter and shot down." He said Hutchison was flying the Wellington twin-engine aircraft when it crashed into the North Sea near the island of Vlieland on June 4, 1942
[...]
Hutchison's parents were Lawrence Leon Hutchison and Florence Victoria Pendergast. They were married in Lincoln on May 22, 1912. He also had a brother, named James Hedley Hutchison.
Jack Leon Hutchison is buried at this graveyard in Den Burg, on the island of Texel in Holland. He was a pilot killed over Holland during the Second World War. Hutchison was from Virgil, and now, 69 years after his death, a Dutch foundation is looking for his family."
