Description

Description
Tube-shaped fire extinguishers manufactured by Canadian companies: Wawanesa Insurance Company (to give to their clients) and Bickle-Seagrave Limited. The tin tubes contained a safe dry powder (usually sodium bicarbonate) which was thrown into the base of a fire to put it out.
Diameter: 5.5 cm. Height: 56 cm(Liberty) and 54 cm(Bickle).
Notes
In 1935, Bickle brothers took over the production and sale of Seagrave fire apparatus in Canada and on 1 January 1936, the name of the company changed to Bickle-Seagrave Limited. This highly successful alliance allowed the company to supply fire departments with all types of apparatus and Bickle-Seagrave soon became the largest fire apparatus manufacturer in Canada. Unfortunately Bickle-Seagrave was forced into bankruptcy in February 1956 and the name was changed to King-Seagrave (after being purchached by Vernon Bickle King) in May, 1956.
