- Portrait of young Helen Emily Wallace with another, unidentified woman. Both women, in elegant Victorian era dresses and feather hats, are standing behind a small table with books. Undated, probably taken between 1865 and 1870.
This is an early tintype, very dark and heavy (actually it is ferrotype). Some pinkish colouring was added to their cheeks. This size (2-3/8 x 3-1/2 inches) was probably the most popular one in years 1865-1880.

- Helen Emily Wallace was born in Cobourg, Ontario on November 16, 1856 to Robert Wallace and Ann Jane Hewitt. She married Charles Matthew Lowrey in 1882 and had 5 children (Robert, Harold, Luella, Edna, Marguerite). She passed away on March 22, 1922 in Niagara, Ontario.
