- On September 18, 1984, in theatrical experiment unrivalled across Canada, the Shaw Festival simultaneously recreated scenes from Orwell's "1984" in three theatres, and variety of locations in the town itself. It involved the entire town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Shaw Festival Company as well as a limited audience of 700 for this one-night only spectacle.
