ICE JAM HAVOC SPREADS TO DOWN-RIVER SECTOR Niagara's great ice jam, which has already caused destruction of the world-famous Falls View bridge and untold damage to the plant of the Ontario Power company, has extended its destructive attack to property along the river in the vicinity of Lewiston and Queenston, Ont. Scenes similar to those depicted above by the Gazette cameraman may be seen all along the lower river, from the foot of the Whirlpool rapids to the mouth of the river. The top picture above shows the Lewiston docks of the Canada Steamship Lines completely covered by great ice mounds, which threaten complete destruction of the property. Notice a section of the steamship company's building on the docks torn out by the crushing force of the ice. Below is the wreckage of summer cottages and boathouses along the lower river, which have been ripped apart and their contents strewn along the shores of the ice-filled river. Scenes like these are attracting thousands of sight-seers to the down-river area.
