- "Of hearty German stock, John is a life-long resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake. While beginning an athletic life in all sports. John eventually focused on hockey and then lacrosse, winning a gold medal at the Canada Summer Games. However, it is beyond his sphere of excellence as an athlete where John has truly excelled. As an entrepreneur, he has initiated, led or sponsored so many events and the creation of new facilities, our town will be forever indebted to him. Indeed, it is of John's tremendous civic pride, unrivaled sense of responsibility and of course, his luminous smile and personality. John's legacy will ultimately be written."
