"For most people the thought of a world record holding, one-legged high jumper is too incredible to fathom, but that is just the beginning of this great athlete. Sue's triumphs in long Jumping and downhill skiing have also staggered the imagination. She has been a member of both the Canadian Summer and Winter Olympic teams winning Gold medals and setting world records in all three sports. She was chosen as our town's ambassador to meet Queen Elizabeth II, and her tremendous abilities have also been recognized by such luminaries as Bobby Orr, Don Cherry and even the late Terry Fox with whom she shared the same handicap. For all her abilities and achievements and despite international acclaim, Sue has always shunned the spotlight, preferring modesty and humility and it is for this charm and her everlasting grace, she is held highest in esteem."
