Edwin Nuttall was born on 25 Jan 1896 at South Lake, Leeds Co., and died on 10 April 1986 in Brockville General Hospital. He married Clara Bernice Blakely of Cherry Valley and they raised six children. He attended school to grade 8 then he read widely all his life. He encouraged his children to take advantage of a good Education. He joined the forces in during WWI but was spared the agonies of war by getting appendicitis at Camp Petawawa, then while recovering in Brockville General Hospital came down with Scarlet Fever. He grew a foot during his hospital stay but upon discharge was sent home. The farm friends that he signed up with did not come home. He became a dairy farmer, assessor, and Justice of the Peace. He and Clara retired to Athens, Ontario. Very hard working, and thrifty,he provided well for his family. Born an Anglican, he attended the local Bethel United Church with his family. He was a Life Member of the Orange Lodge. He was a caring neighbour, friend to many, and a loving father to us.
