"While the spine states that the minutes go to 1802, there are no actual meetings of the Council past 1797 reported in Book C : SEE Book D. Items dated 1802 are actually after-the-fact memos concerning previous claims which were added to this Book.; Contents : Name index and general index [34 lvs.] -- Supplement to various 1797 Minutes of the Executive Council [3 lvs.] -- Minutes of the Council meetings concerning land grants [172 lvs. - with 2 pages of minutes on each leaf].; Pages 291 to 313 contain the minutes to the meetings held at York on June 29th and 30th, and July 4th and 5th 1796.; Page following 292 is numbered 1 and contains an Appendix to previous meetings held 14th and 22nd June and November 8th 1797.; Page 46 misnumbered 56 ; page 57 misnumbered page 67; page 67 misnumbered page 49, but renumbered page 66 1/2 .; Pages 314 to 321 contain a copy of a report No'd A-62 from Paul Averill recommending people to be settled in the Township of Townsend, which was dealt with on page 4 [April 11th 1797 meeting].; Page 321 also contains two memos dated June 1802, referring back to pages 162 and 270 in Book A concerning claims made earlier and effectively rejecting those claims.; Pages 322 to 337 contain adjustments to meetings which were missed or should have been reported in Book A. Pages 338 to 344 contain memoranda dated January 1802 concerning changes to the land granting rules and regulations.; With the exception of the meetings at York, June 5th to July 3rd and November 7th to December 20th 1797, all other meetings were held at the Council offices in Newark [later renamed Niagara-on-the-Lake].; The land grants first assigned were to the Districts created in July 1788, originally named 1) Hesse, 2) Nassau, 3) Mechlenberg and 4) Lunenburg ; Later, in October 1792, after the division of Quebec into Upper and Lower Canada, these were renamed the 1) Western, 2) Home, 3) Midland and 4) Eastern Districts.; Lunenburg was originally written Luneburg; In October, 1792, the original Land Office Boards were increased from four to seven which is reflected in the later land books"
