Contents : Various oaths of office and allegiance to the crown [marked Index Page E ; Index page F ; and Index page W] [3 lvs] -- Name index and general index [35 lvs.] --- Minutes of the Council meetings concerning land grants [410 lvs. - with 2 pages of minutes on each leaf].; Page no'd A, dated May 23rd, 1798, was inserted after page 112, re items missing from page 112.; Meetings appear to have been transferred to York Council Chambers by the end of 1797 ; none were held in Newark..; The land grants first assigned were to the Districts created in July 1788, originally named 1) Hesse, 2) Nassau, 3) Mechlenberg and 4) Lunenburg ; Later, in October 1792, after the division of Quebec into Upper and Lower Canada, these were renamed the 1) Western, 2) Home, 3) Midland and 4) Eastern Districts.; Lunenburg was originally written Luneburg; In October, 1792, the original Land Office Boards were increased from four to seven which is reflected in the later land books
