"Contents : Name index and general index [26 lvs.] --- Minutes of the Council meetings concerning land grants [281 lvs. - with 2 pages of minutes on each leaf].; Indexes ""A"" to ""Z"" written on pages 1 to 45 ; pages 46 to 50 contain letters where the previously alloted space ran out.; Page 500 and 501 missing ; not used or not filmed?.; Meetings were transferred to York Council Chambers by the end of 1797 ; none were held in Newark afterward.; The land grants first assigned were to the Districts created in July 1788, originally named 1) Hesse, 2) Nassau, 3) Mechlenberg and 4) Lunenburg ; Later, in October 1792, after the division of Quebec into Upper and Lower Canada, these were renamed the 1) Western, 2) Home, 3) Midland and 4) Eastern Districts.; Lunenburg was originally written Luneburg; In October, 1792, the original Land Office Boards were increased from four to seven which is reflected in the later land books"
