Contents : Name index and general index [45 lvs.] --- Minutes of the Council meetings concerning land grants [334 lvs. - with 2 pages of minutes on each leaf].; Page 290 of the minutes not used ; missed?; Meetings were transferred to York Council Chambers by the end of 1797 ; none were held in Newark afterward.; The land grants first assigned were to the Districts created in July 1788, originally named 1) Hesse, 2) Nassau, 3) Mechlenberg and 4) Lunenburg ; Later, in October 1792, after the division of Quebec into Upper and Lower Canada, these were renamed the 1) Western, 2) Home, 3) Midland and 4) Eastern Districts.; Lunenburg was originally written Luneburg; In October, 1792, the original Land Office Boards were increased from four to seven which is reflected in the later land books
