Axten dies in PGH at 74 William (Bill) Axten died suddenly on December 30, 1974 at the Penetanguishene General Hospital. He was 74 years old. Born in Toronto on October 15, 1900, to William and Margaret Axten, both deceased, he spent the last 34 years of his life in Penetanguishene where he was employed at the Fern Shoe Company from 1940 to 1968. He was also a member of Georgian Lodge 348. Funeral services were held on January 3, 1975 at the Beausoleil Funeral Home conducted by Rev Alan McLaughlin. Burial took place at St. James-on-the- lines Cemetery, Penetanguishene. Out-of-town friends and relatives attending -- the services came from Grimsby, Midland, London, Toronto, Bramalea, Ottawa, Woodbridge, Waubaushene, Port MeNicoll, Brockville, Schomberg, North Bay, Aurora, Orillia, Collingwood, Lafontaine, Perkinsfield, Wyebridge and Victoria Harbour. Mr. Axten is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marion (Woodburn) Axten, sons George of Grimsby, Donald of Penetanguishene, daughter Joan (Mrs. Raymond Corriveau) of Penetanguishene and grandchildren Paul, Beth, Greg, Kenny, Michael, Brian and John.
