Here some of the members of the Senior Citizens The senior citizens of Victoria Harbour were invited to a roast beef dinner last Friday evening at the Victoria Harbour At King Street apartments Club enjoy the meal prepared by the Legion's cooks. Kinsmen give piano to seniors The Kinsmen Club of Midland presented the senior citizens of the Senior Citizens Apartments at 559 King Street with a Heitzman piano for their common room Tuesday night. The Kinsmen learned of the need for a piano at the apartments and were able to meet that need with a good used piano. Dunlop's of Moonstone co-operated with the Kinsmen in arranging the purchase of the piano. George Grant, the superintendant at the apartments, said that the piano would be very useful. He plays the piano by ear and pointed out that now that they have a piano they would be able to have musical evenings. Mrs. Vi Hewett Chairperson of the en- tertainment and social committee thanked the Kinsmen for their gift and Midland Bulls in Barrie then all present sang "For they are jolly good fellows" to the accompaniment of George Grant on the piano. rugby snow bowl On Saturday, March 8, 1975 the Barrie Rugby Football Club hosted a Winter Snow Bowl. Members of the Midland Bulls, various other clubs from Toronto and Southern Ontario. This 15-a- side tournament was designed by the Barrie club to be an entertainment series prior to the regular spring season. In the first game, Midland team defeated the higher ranked Metro Toronto Police squad by a score of 4-0. After a stalemate for most of the game, Midland's scrum came up with a hard push into Toronto's end zone where Sid Caffrey "touched"' the ball down. The second game saw Midland up against the host Barrie side which ended in a hard-fought 8-4 win for Barrie. Midland's only score came from a play started by J. Mikel Ruth and finished by Sandy MckKillup, who dived over the line after a 20 yard dash. Midland lost to Kitchener - the eventual tournament victors - in their final game, by a score of 12-0. Midland displayed a great deal of power in the forward pack, in all three games. What the team lacked in conditioning, they certainly made up in enthusiasm both on and off the field. The actual season for the Coldwater hockey results Midland Club begins in late May, with games lasting until late June. After a summer break, the team resumes its final fall session from September to the end of October. Actual games and dates for the Midland team will be announced by the Ontario Rugby Union in April. The Midland team begins serious training in early April for their first pre- season game _ against Peterborough on May 11. Coldwater had won the second game 5-1 after Schomberg's 6-3 win in the first game. Brad Dubreul and George Koekeuk divided up the Schomberg goals with two apiece while assists went to Rick Patterson, Al Bentley, and Brad Dubreul. Leafs 2, Canadiens 0 John Kerswell scored twice for the Leafs in Coldwater atom house league minor hockey action last Saturday to force a third game in their series with the Canadiens. The Canadiens had taken the first game by a score of 3- 2. Hawks 4, Boston 2 Steven Dahms scored a hat-trick to lead his team to victory in the game and victory in the series as the Hawks) beat Boston by a 4-2 score. Lee Brandon sank the other Hawks marker. Clint Watt and Bernie Cadieux took care of the Boston scoring. The Hawks had taken the first game of the series 4-0 and so their win in the second game last Saturday gave them the semi-finals victory in Coldwater atom house league hockey. "Seals 2, Flyers 0 Donnie Nick and John Letherly put in a goal apiece as the Seals blanked the Flyers 2-0 in Coldwater novice house league minor hockey last Saturday. Their victory gave them the Semi- final series in two games. They had beaten the Flyers 3-2 in the first game of the series: Rangers 7, Sabres 4 High scoring on both sides marked the second game of a semi-final series between the Rangers and the Sabres in SAAAAAA SA AAA SAS AAAAAS SEO 0 8 mee Coldwater novice house league minor hockey last Saturday. The Rangers beat the Sabres by a score of 7-4 to win the game and the series two games to none. Danny Archer scored four of the Rangers goals while singles went to Shannon Brown, Tim Bell and Kevin Silk. Jeff Stewart scored a hat- trick for the Sabres and Cindy Marshall added the fourth Sabres goal. Cookstown 3, Coldwater 2 Cookstown beat Coldwater 3-2 last Sunday to tie their O.M.H.A. peewee all-star consolation series at one game apiece. Coldwater had taken the first game in the series 6-2. Randy George and Tony Potter got the Coldwater goals with assists going to Danny Gilbank and Randy George. David Prince, Mark Jones, and David Braden scored the Cookstown goals with assists going to Mark Jones and Brian Dawnry. Coldwater 3, MacTier 3 Ricky Rever scored a hat- trick as Coldwater and MacTier fought to a tie in an O.M.H.A. atom all-star exhibition game held last Sunday. Coldwater assists went to Steve Schandlan, with two and Mike Cardona with one. Coldwater 2, Beaverton 1 John Jones and Bradley Silk split the scoring as Coldwater beat Beaverton by a score of 2-1 in an O.M.H.A. exhibition game held last Sunday. An assist went to Dan Bell. The lone Beaverton goal went to Larry Durand. Sharks 6, Whalers 1 Dave Beach and Dave Nicholson each scored two goals to pace the Sharks to their 6-1 victory over the Whalers in the second game of their semi-final series in Coldwater bantam house league action on Monday March 10. Paul Vandergeest and Jim Schrader added the remaining two Sharks goals. Rick Gamma scored the lone Whalers goal. Black Hawks 2, Canadiens 1 The Hawks won the second game of their semi-final series with the Canadiens by a score of 2-1 in Coldwater peewee house league minor hockey action on Monday March 10 to tie their series at two games apiece. Ed Goss and Bob Potter scored for the Hawks while Jeff Marshall scored for the Canadiens. Leafs 4, Bruins 3 After winning the first game of the series 4-3, the Leafs again beat the Bruins by the identical score in the second game of their best two out of three semi-final series in Coldwater peewee house league minor hockey action on Monday March 10. Bill Russell, Chris Bylow, Ron Blanchard, and Tim Woods split the Leafs scoring. Derek Fox scored one goal while Robert Southorn paced the Bruins with two goals. Arrows 3, Toros 3 Kim Howell scored twice as the Arrows and the Toros fought to a tie in the second game of their bantam house league semi-final series played on March 10. Tom Walker scored the third Arrows goal. Scott Pipher, Nick McLugh, and Chris Kontos divided the Toros scoring with one goal apiece. Hornets 3, Canucks 2 The Hornets beat the Canucks by a score of 3-2 to win the second game of their midget house league minor hockey semi-final series two games to none in a game played on Monday March 10.
