Town police Thievery's in the air Spring is in the air and so is thievery. Whether it's the changing of seasons or the winter break, it's hard to tell, but two breakins were reported at two Penetanguishene Schools. On Sunday March 16, town police officials were informed of , reakin at Corpus Christi elementary school. Entry was ges by breaking through a window on the roof. Nothing "1faS been reported stolen. The incident is still under in- vestigation. ; "On the following day police received a report of a break and entry into St. Joseph's elementary school. Once again entry was gained through a roof door. To date only a tape player has been reported missing. Three rooms were entered and police will have to wait until the teachers return from their holidays to see if anything else is missing. Everyone's reporting thefts Everyone seemed to be reporting thefts during the past week. Three 40 ounce bottles of liquor and one 26 ounce bottle of rye were reported missing from the Penetanguishene Curling Club on Friday. The door was unlocked at the time, as people were working inside. Orval Lamoureux of 209 Fox Street reported a stolen 1973 ski-doo from his residence on Sunday. The case is still under investigation. A snowmobile was recovered from the Cedar Point area on Sunday after it had been reported missing earlier in the day The vehicle belonged to Kevin Ramsay of room number seven in the Commodore Hotel. Two juveniles were involved in the incident and may be charged according to the police. Missing bicycles and a TV set Now on to missing bicycles. Stephen and Brian Beausoleil of 75 Edward Street in- formed police that their bicycles were missing from a garage on Sunday morning. Both have since been recovered. Finally, someone appears to have made off with a television set from the Brule Hotel. Hotel officials told police that a 10 inch black and white TV was stolen from a room in the hotel last week. The approximate value of the set was estimated at $200. Police are still investigating the case. OPP report Failing to yield A two car accident last Thursday at 2:20 p.m. at the in- tersection of Highway 27 and Vinden Street resulted in a total of $1500 damage to the two cars involved. David Milne, 66, of Anne Street in Barrie'suffered cuts and bruises when the car he was driving collided with one driven by Roger Chevrette, 36, of Robert Street in Penetanguishene. Following the ac- cident, Milne was charged with failing to yield the right of way. Narcotics charge laid Midland OPP report they have charged Edward Bekooy, 16, of RR 1 Perkinsfield with possession of a narcotic. The charge was laid last Saturday, March 15. Tax help for senior citizens Lorna Marchildon helps a senior citizen fill out his tax return form at the Penetanguishene town office. The town is providing this service free of charge to senior citizens. Since it started on February 17, over 200 senior citizens have taken advantage of the program. Assistance for senior citizens will be offered at least until April 15.. Whether or not the program is extended beyond that date depends upon the demand. Staff photo.
