The accused man was not convicted of raping the girl, but according to Peet, the "evidence of her in- volvement with drugs came out at the preliminary hearing (of the rape case)" and that OPP officers subsequently "had her in Tiny Township deputy-reeve elected as rep Tiny Township deputy- reeve Hilda Sibthorpe has been elected as the Barrie zone representative to the board of the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association. In an interview last week, Mrs. Sibthorpe -- who defeated incumbent Howard Grier in last fall's municipal elections -- said she was nominated from Simcoe County Council. He claimed that in such cases "the rehabilitation of the accused is secondary"' to the protection of society.
