Call Contact 526-9333 Hours 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday (Except Holidays) There is something about a brand new article, whether it be a garment, or a car, a house or anything else. It seems to make the world look so much rosier and the spirits soar. On Friday of last week I was in- vited to go up to the new Villa Nursing Home for a preview tour. History is in the making. It is the first time that Midland and area have had a brand new nursing home facility. The building is unique. The front of the building appears to be one level but upon in- spection one finds that there is a lower level that faces Little Lake Park. The lower level contains the craft room, dining room, living room, kitchen and laundry rooms, and the heating plant. The kitchen is a dream with the finest of equipment including refrigeration dishwashers, stoves and I even saw a toaster that produces toast on a continuous cycle. The furniture has been purchased with design and convenience for the patients in mind. The first floor contains private, semi private and public ac- commodation for 60 patients. All doors to the rooms and bathrooms are able to receive wheel chairs, and easy access to all areas has been the key word for the patients comfort and enjoyment. The patients rooms have been colour coded for easy identification and the rooms all boast large windows. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jarlette are to be congratulated on the design and choice of location. Hopefully, an auxiliary may now be formed to assist the patients to be able to enjoy their new home. Many extras will be needed in the new facility such as wheel chairs, volunteers to assist with craft programs and outdoor activities. I wonder how many people have started a few carrot tops or turnip tops in water. It is a sure sign that the planting season is close at hand. As a child this was a fun time, to see who could grow the largest and strongest plants. One doesn't have to spend money to enjoy the bout of spring fever that hits everyone at this time of year. And the kids all wonder what has struck mother. The great cleaning, washing and putting away of boots and snow suits is underway. It is good to see the great clutter put away for another season. April also tells us that we only have one more month to get our income tax prepared and Sent in. A reminder to senior citizens and low income groups. There is a tax clinic at St. Pauls United Church the number to call for an appointment is 526-7761. Did you know that if robins are looking for food that they love raisins.
