Rumney and also called on Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gudat at Port Carling. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Rumney accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Mel McKeown of Bass Lake to visit Dr. and Mrs. D.M. McKeown and family of Fergus. Gwen Faint of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Faint. Visitors during the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Melvern Isaac were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bond and Margaret of Ancaster and Mrs. Lincoln Johnston of Stayner. Mrs. Robert Moore of Toronto is spending a few days this week with the Isaacs and Mrs. J. Bell. Mrs. Kurt Benke has returned home after undergoing surgery in the Toronto General Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Edwards are enjoying a holiday this week with Mr. and Mrs. John Wylie and family at Loon Lake. Michael and David Martin of Toronto spent the past week with Mrs. George McLay. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Nixon and Mr. and Mrs Glen Griffiths of Toronto visited during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nixon and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown Mr, Stan Wismer also visited Mr. and Mrs. Brown before leaving for Moose Jaw, Sask. to attend Bible School Mrs. Stan Robinson and Paul accompanied by Mrs. R. Graham of Elmvale spent a few days last week in Coboconk Shed demolished by recent fire by Charlotte Cerdes On: Thursday night at 9.55 p.m The Waubaushene'_ Fire department was called out to the home of Jim Borrows on the Ist Concession of Mat- chedash Township when lightning struck a driving shed and the resulting fire completely demolished it. While there. another call came from the home of Clarence Woods in Port Severn when lightning again struck and damaged the television set. There was extensive smoke damage done, and the T.V. was ruined At 12.12 a.m. Friday morning fire fighters were again called out to the home of Edward Payne in Forest Harbour when lightning struck his summer home. and burned it beyond repair The cottage was vacant at the time, while Mr. Payne was:at his home in Acton al the time On Monday August 23, the firemen were called to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Potter when their infant daughter began choking on something and stopped breathing. By the time the firemen arrived on the scene the baby was breathing again but was throwing up blood so the parents rushed her to St Andrew's Hospital where she was kept for two days observation. She ap- peared to be progressing nicely and was released. On Thursday -- her temperature shot to 105 degrees and she was having difficulty breathing again at which time she was again rushed to St. Andrews Hospital and admitted for treatment. At the time of typing up this article the baby's condition is not known other than she is very sick. Last Saturday August 21. the firemen held their annual picnic for the firemen and their families at the Springwater Provincial Park in Midhurst . A very enjovable time was en- joyed by all. especially the children seeing all the animals. VH couple hold 30th anniversary Marie. Norma, Carole. Jim and Kenny St. Amand, held a_ 30th wedding anniversary for Theresa and Norman at the Victoria Harbour Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday, August 28, Many friends and relatives attended. The disc jockey was Jim Stubbing. Gifts were presented and a lovely luncheon was served. visiting with Miss Margaret Graham Weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Vie Wilson and family were Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Turcott and family of Peterboro Terry Tureott remained for this week Marvin Hawke of Brampton is spending this week visiting relatives in the com- munity. The Vasey U.C.W. met on Wednestiy evening. August 25, at the home of Mrs. Doug Smitham with twenty-two members and one visitor present. The program was under the Friendship and Visitation Committee of Mrs. Frank Smitham. Mrs. Ross Faint. Mrs. Sandy Wilson and Mrs. Manley Edwards. Mrs. Wilson read the scripture. Mrs Smitham a- poem called "Visiting" and Mrs. Faint gave the Prayer and read an article from the Observer called "Twenty vears a Padre on 401". The offering was dedicated by Mrs. Manley Edwards During the business portion of the meeting the date of October 27 was set for the annual bazaar and on September 22 the members will visit the Georgian Manor.
